In Memoriam
Rena Glazier Bransten
1933-2026

It is with sadness in our hearts that we share the passing of Rena Bransten who died peacefully at her home in San Francisco on Wednesday morning, surrounded by her family.

As a preeminent Bay Area gallerist for over 50 years, Rena’s dedication to championing the artists and the work she felt passionate about has been the defining characteristic of her professional life. As an avid collector and fierce advocate for artists, she prioritized personal relationships above all else. This will be her lasting bequest.

Rena’s warmth, generosity, and sharply witted sense of humor will be missed beyond words by all those who entered her realm.

In her own characteristically succinct words, “It has been an extraordinary life in art.”

A memorial is scheduled for Thursday, March 12 at 4PM at Congregation Emanu-El in San Francisco.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to causes you believe in, reflecting Rena’s lifelong commitment to the arts and supporting others.
